ANATOMY OF A SHARK BITE - Discovery Channel premiere
Those who are knowledgeable about sharks will tell you that attacks on human beings are extremely uncommon. Anatomy of a Shark Bite captures the first ever television footage of one of these rare attacks. Shark behavioural scientist Dr Erich Ritter was bitten on his calf by a bull shark during the filming of a Discovery Channel documentary in the Bahamas last year. During the filming, Dr Ritter's terrifying ordeal was caught on camera both from above and below the water. In the resulting documentary, Anatomy of a Shark Bite, Dr Ritter reflects on his close encounter for the first time and examines the footage, as well of that of other shark incidents and CGI reconstruction, to explore how and why different breeds of sharks bite. The great white shark, once thought to prefer only coastal waters, is now believed to make trans-oceanic crossings. This is the story of a handful of humans on an urgent quest to preserve Asian elephants.
