What Reading can do ??
Reading is the main part of any language course. Reading improves grammar, spelling and increases vocabulary. A good student will NOTWAIT for teachers to make him read because he will already be reading a wide variety of texts. A teacher should not have to force language students to read. If you are SERIOUS about improving your language you must read a lot.
This includes reading newspapers, magazines and quality novels regularly. If you do not read, then your language-especially your grammar and writing- will not improve.

1) Meaning is not the words you see on the page. The reader discovers meaning by making his own interpretations. ( which means you have to think when reading because some of the information may be hidden and you have to work it out on your own.)
2) How well a reader can work out meaning depends on the reader's ability to think, the effort he puts in and responsibility.
3) Reading and writing are CONNECTED. Readers increase their understanding by writing and reading also IMPROVES writing performance.
A poor student thinks that understanding comes from getting the words right.
A good student knows that he must take his own responsibility for working out the meaning from his own knowledge
