When she was young, Beyonce loved R'n'B music, moves caught her eyes and the voices touched her deeply. She was a big fan of R'n'B legends such as Jackson 5.
Destiny's Child started small, with local events and small parties, but things changed and they moved a step forward when they appeared on Star Search on national TV. They were successful and things really changed for them when they became the opening act for the famous R'n'B & Hip-Hop artist Dru Hill.
They got 3 awards for their first album, which was self-titled, but that was just the start. Their second album reached the top ten Billboard album chart as soon as it was released in 1999. The album also contained hit singles that topped the charts. They also received 2 Grammy nominations in 1999, 3 platinum statues by the end of 1999 and other awards as well, but sadly things didn't continue that way.
March 2000, 2 members of the group decided they had to leave. The reason was revealed later that both LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson were not happy with the way the group was managed by Mathew Knowles. Later on the group found Michelle Williams and Farrah Franklin to replace the members that had left.
After Farrah Franklin left, after just 5 months, Destiny's Child continued as a trio and again they were on top with their hit album Survivor. The album topped the Billboard 200 album chart and got to #1.
In 2001, Destiny's Child took a break and they experienced solo careers, as well as some movie roles. However, Beyonce did more than just that; she went for songwriting as well. She even won the ASCAP Pop Songwriter of the Year Award to be the first African-American and the second woman ever to win it.
Beyonce also got into acting. She started off with the leading role in T.V drama Carmen: A Hip Hopera (2001) with Mekhi Phifer. Then she was Foxy Cleopatra in Austin Powers in Gold member (2002), and later came The Fighting Temptations (2003).
But Beyonce didn't take the acting career alone, she kept her music career. Her first single with Jay-Z "Crazy in Love" was a hit. It went straight to #1 in UK. She was going from one success to another and was called a bona fide star. Dangerously in Love was released in June 2003 and it featured names such as Missy Elliott, Sean Paul, Mario Winans and other famous R'n'B singers.
Beyonce still has some production that will be seen on the small screen soon, including a series of Pepsi commercials. She's also filming her role in the movie The Pink Panther, which is expected to be in theatres in 2005.
