Nilesat 201 is the third satellite launched by Arianespace for the Egyptian operator, following Nilesat 101 and 102, launched successfully in 1998 and 2000. it will
replace the existing Nilesat 101 & 102
Atlantic Bird and 4A, the latter leased to Eutelsat.
It is equipped with 24 Ku-band transponders and four Ka-band
Nilesat-201 will enable to provide digital Direct to the Home (DTH) TV and radio broadcasting services and high-speed data transmission services over North Africa, Middle East and Gulf area, starting in February 2010.
Based on a Spacebus 4000B2 platform, Nilesat-201 will carry Ku and Ka-band transponders and will be located at 7 degree West. With a lifetime of more than 15 years, the satellite will have a launch mass of 3.2 tons and will deliver 5.7 kW of payload power end of life.
Nilesat-201 will carry 24 BSS Ku-band transponders over North Africa and Middle East, plus 4 Ka-Band channels over North Africa and the Gulf region.

Atlantic Bird4a formerly Hot Bird 10 it will continue to operate under satellite operator Eutelsat 7west under
anew partnership between Egypt and the European satellite operator.
According to Thales, Nilesat 201 will begin commercial operations in September.
The satellite has arrived at 7.0 West and it will replace Nilesat 101 ..... Atlantic Bird 4A 7.2W A test is back on and started in the Nilesat 201
