Dear all
While you are reading such topics posted here or any other place, you might come across words that you don’t understand and you don’t how to pronounce them,, in this case a good Dictionary will help you definitely..

I would like to share you something about pronunciation(اللفظ) and what called Phonetic Symbols (الرموز الصوتية)
Most of you must be aware about the using of dictionaries,,, so usually in the front page of the dictionary you will come across special symbols like the one below, those symbols are written next to numbers and simple English words as an example, they are also between two slashes / /
1 p as in pen /pen/
Well,, you need to learn how each symbol is pronounced (أي كيفية لفظ كل رمز صوتي من هذه الرموز حتى يمكن معرفة لفظ الكلمة المكتوبة بجانبه) if you want to know the pronunciation of any word,, you just look up in the dictionary and once you get it look next to the symbols written next to it..
As per Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary the phonetic symplos divided to :
1. Vowels and Diphthongs (20 symbols)
2. Consonants ( 24 symbols)
I’m not an English teacher as well as I’m not so professional in English language but it’s something I learnt from my English courses ,, so if there is any thing is wrong please correct me.
You can hear the sound of those symbols through this link :
Phonetic Symbols
My Best Regards
